ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 – November 2008
Hitec are embarking upon accreditation of ISO9001 and ISO 14001 which is expected to be completed early 2009. This accreditation is important to Hitec and our clients because it provides assurance of a robust and controlled operation.
Connaught Office Refurbishment, DPW Associates, Caerphilly, Wales. – September 2008
Following on from successful fit-out project in Exeter with the same design team and project managers we now are undertaking the second of a proposed nationwide roll-out programme of refurbishments. The works comprise refurbishment of existing tired and dated occupied office premises within Caerphilly.
Remedial Works At Gryffe High School, Renfrewshire Council, Houston. – September 2008
Our first project with Renfrewshire Council, this project comprises the upgrading of internal store facility to create new disabled shower / toilet facility, also providing repairs to storm damaged areas to the roof and cladding of the existing school premises.
New Changing Pavillion, Stirling Council, Bannockburn. – August 2008
Following our recent project at Park & Ride we were delighted to continue our working relationship with Stirling Council and design team on this new changing pavilion for the local football team. The project is providing new updated accommodation for the local football team and hopefully encourage new players who can see investment in there local social amenities for the future.
Hitec Construction Ltd has achieved CHAS certification – August 2008
The team at Hitec are extremely proud to have achieved accreditation by CHAS (Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme) www.chas.gov.uk. This accreditation is a culmination of our hard work and dedication to Health & Safety.
Close Upgrading Programme, West Dunbartonshire Council. – August 2008
This project is phase 1 in a budgeted roll-out programme of remedial works to upgrade council properties in West Dunbartonshire.
New Appointment of Contracts Manager – July 2008
Hitec are delighted to welcome Patrick O‘Donnell, Contracts Manager to our Construction Division and the Hitec team. Pat brings with him a wealth of experience in all fields of general construction. Joining us at a time of growth, we are sure his experience and professionalism will assist in taking us to the next level within our business plans.
Churchill Theatre, Toilet Upgrades, Edinburgh City Council. – July 2008
Our first project for Edinburgh City Council, with the added challenge of re-opening 6 weeks later in time for the city’s fringe festival. The works comprised new upgraded toilet facilities in one of Edinburgh’s famous theatres.

Award winning new Services Building At Western Park & Ride Facility for Stirling Council – April 2008
Hitec are proud to deliver this highly prestigious project with an emphasis on using new economically beneficial products to power the building to reducing the impact on the environment. The project is part of the larger regeneration of the Raploch area of Stirling, while also helping to reduce the volume of vehicles accessing the city centre. A key environmental contribution was the installation use of sustainable power sources with the use of Photovaltic roof tiles and under-floor heating.
Eddlewood Catering Academy, South Lanarkshire Council, Hamilton. – February 2008
Hitec’s first project with South Lanarkshire Council. The community hall was fully refurbished to create a new catering training facility. The project to better the use of the existing building while also maintaining space for other community activities.
Scottish Natural Heritage: Main contract for property refurbishment programme – February 2008
Hitec have secured the Main Contract for the refurbishment of several properties in West and Central Scotland on behalf of Scottish Natural Heritage. The project will commence in April with an expected duration of 8 Weeks.
Midlothian Council: Bonnyrigg and Loanhead Leisure Centres refurbishment – January 2008
Hitec have now commenced work on the high profile refurbishment works to both Bonnyrigg and Loanhead Leisure Centres on behalf of Midlothian Council. The works involve creating a new Gym area, forming a Spa/Sauna Facility on the upper level of Bonnyrigg Leisure Centre with re-decoration throughout and cosmetic upgrading to both Leisure Centres. Hitec had to “value engineer” this project in order to make sure that initial costs came in-line and on budget, in order to achieve this, both projects are running simultaneously with an expected duration of 12 weeks.

Flooring news

September 2008: National Brittania House Caerphilly Wales
Hitec have secured this prestigious contract to supply and fit 2,750m2 of new carpets throughout this occupied and busy building, this is a particularly challenging project due to the busy live office environment that needs to remain open throughout our works.
September 2008: South Lanarkshire Council Community Hall East Kilbride
Hitec are delighted to be awarded another contract for South Lanarkshire Council at the Integrated Community and Leisure Facility in East Kilbride.
August 2008: Marks & Spencers Craigleith Edinburgh
Having completed two Simply Foods stores for Marks & Spencers Hitec are delighted to announce that through Mace, Hitec have secured the flooring package for the redevelopment and upgrade of the live store at Craigleith Retain Park in Edinburgh. This project involves over 4,500m2 of floor coverings and also the entrance matting system.
August 2008: Alloway Halls of Residence Abertay University
Hitec completed this project to a very tight programme during the summer break.
July 2008: Golden Jubilee Hospital
Hitec have secured the flooring package within the Main Entrance to the Golden Jubilee Hospital.
July 2008: Kevin Ritchie joins Hitec Flooring as Contracts Manager
Hitec are delighted to announce that Kevin Ritchie has joined Hitec as Contracts Manager. Stewart Kidd the General Manager is happy to welcome Kevin to Hitec having both worked together as floor layers for a number of years and Kevin brings many years experience and knowledge of the flooring industry.
June 2008: Connaught Corporate Headquarters Exeter June 2008
Hitec are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the flooring package within the new corporate headquarters for Connaught Plc, working alongside our sister company Hitec Interiors we delivered this project on time for this demanding design team and client.
June 2008: Ailsa Hospital NHS Ayshire & Annan
Hitec have secured the flooring package on the Refurbishment of the Knowledge Management Suite project.
April 2008: Craig En Goyne Care Home
Hitec have secured the flooring package within the 40 bed extension to an existing nursing home.

March 2008: Bield Housing
Hitec are pleased to announce that we have successfully completed the flooring works within Westland Court and Dundas Court for Bield Housing.
February 2008: Gartnavel Hospital McNiven House
Hitec have been awarded the flooring works associated with the refurbishment of the secure unit McNiven House at Gartnavel Hospital.
January 2008: Belmont School Whitecraigs Glasgow
Hitec have completed the flooring works within the new extension to this private school within the south side of glasgow, working with our client we managed to complete the works to a very high standard within a very tight programme.
December 2007: New school for Larbert
Hitec Flooring has once again shone when the going gets tough in completing the floor finishes of the brand new Larbert Primary School for Falkirk Council.
This £125k project was hampered due to a fire at another local School which forced our skilled tradesmen to drastically reduce the 12 week term down to a highly challenging 8 week programme.
Suffice to say, Hitec Flooring excelled and completed this most testing of opportunities on time and budget to the delight of Falkirk Council and more importantly the kids, who at last had a brand new school to be proud of.
September 2007: The Clyde Rebuilt
Hitec Flooring has successfully completed their largest commercial flooring contract to date at the newly built Clydebank College.
Commenting on the project, Stewart Kidd, Hitec Flooring General Manager said that “in not only winning a contract of this size (250k incorporating 10k sqm of floor finishes) but also completing it on time and budget as well as overcoming the various difficulties that were faced throughout the 20 week timeframe only underlines Hitec’s professionalism and can-do attitude towards projects of this nature and value”
The £32M college campus for Clydebank College was officially opened on Thursday 20th September 2007 to coincide with the return of Cunard’s QE2 Ocean Liner to Glasgow to mark the 40th anniversary of her launch from the site. The College is the major catalyst in a bold new urban regeneration project, on the site of the former John Brown Shipyard, in Clydebank.
July 2007: Hitec Flooring goes from strength to strength
Due to Hitec Floorings attitude towards customer satisfaction and a quality end product, they have secured major commercial flooring works for East Ayrshire Council (Auchinleck Care Home), Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS Trust (Spinal Stepdown Unit at The Southern General) and the planned new build Rothesay Secure Accommodation Centre for Angus Council.
